1984:
Established in Rome (Italy) and directed by Kadour
Naimi The
Maldoror Film produces and distributes documentaries and fiction
films. The guidance is based on the principle that art is an
ethical act, free by any form of servility, and aesthetic, which
has as its origin, way and end, the beauty, not the false,
superficial, which essentially sights on commercial profit, but
one that comes from an inner consistency, and that makes life
worthy of be living. The
name Maldoror was chosen for these reasons: 1)
in tribute to the author Isidore Ducasse who wrote the book
entitled "Maldoror" 2)
because personally (I don't know if the author wanted it) I
understand this french word "Maldoror" in two ways: First
way: "Mal d' horreur" ( "Evil of horror")
means that the "Evil" is in the existence of the
'horror' (all that is ethically bad and aesthetically ugly) in
human species and thus in every human being. Second
way: "Mal d' aurore" ( "Evil of dawn")
means that the "Evil" is even in the absence of
"dawn" (all that is ethically good and aesthetically
beautiful) in human species and thus in every human being. Consequently
serves awareness of the existence of the 'horror' we have
to fight and eliminate as possible, and also serves
the awareness of the need for "dawn" we have
to conquer and concrete as possible. The
word Maldoror was chosen to confront this ethics and aesthetics
challenge to contribute to a better humanity for all.
